Los Angeles based folk artist Kitchen Hips leaves behind their brand of bedroom folk for the open road, releases limited edition single

In anticipation of their Pick Something Up summer tour, Los Angeles’ folksy sweetheart Kitchen Hips will be releasing Pick Something Up, the single from their forthcoming album, Lonely Weekend.  There will be a limited-time download link on their website and Bandcamp page, available for the duration of the tour.

Kitchen Hips will be travelling from Lincoln, NE to Iowa City, IA between July 15th-July 28th. They will be supported by Nebraska-based country-western band, John.

Kitchen Hips is both a person and a band. Alongside her boyfriend Evan Hemsley, Kitchen Hips makes melodious music steeped in hominess, heartache, and DIY folk spirit. Together as Kitchen Hips, they recorded their upcoming album, Lonely Weekend, in a bedroom-turned-studio over the span of 48 hours. Combining witty meditations on self-doubt and sadness with her unique vocal stylings, plus woodwinds from the talented Will Mullaney, Lonely Weekend—a companion piece to their previous cassette release, Lazy Weather—is a fusion of sentimental old-timey jazz, country crooners, and the freak folk revival of the 21st century.

“Kitchen Hips set[s] the southern mood as banjo-pickin’ Aerienne Russell charm[s] with her delightful warble… harkening back to the days of Patsy Cline.” – Leslie Kalohi, LA Record

“An affably folksy duo that proved the perfect introduction to my day with their kitschy, hippy sound…fun and lively. –Danielle Dorky, danielledorky.com
